Oswestry Senior Citizens Club (OSCC) and The Food Cabin welcomed a packed room of guests for their official opening, attended by the Town Mayor and Mayoress.

Visitors saw the newly painted OSCC building, new chairs and bespoke embroidered polo shirts for its volunteers. The Food Cabin was also open during the celebration, giving guests a chance to see its work in action.

Open to everyone in the community on Mondays and Thursdays, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, The Food Cabin makes use of food collected from local stores that would otherwise go to landfill.

The OSCC building is used by a wide range of groups serving the community. It is open every day of the week, generally from 9.30am to 10pm. With the building now at capacity, OSCC is considering an extension to create space for more groups.

Angie said: “It was wonderful to see so many people join us for the opening. We’re grateful to our volunteers and the local stores that support The Food Cabin, and we look forward to welcoming even more people from the community.”
