The first two weekends in June saw many of Oswestry’s leading artists throw their doors open to the public through the annual Open Studios and Art Trail, organised and run by Oswestry’s primary arts collective, Borderland Visual Arts.
The Art Trail takes in studios and collectives not just in Oswestry but up and down the border from Cefn Mawr to Berriew, promoting the many highly talented artists in the area. It allows the public access to a quite incredible range and variety of creative art, including painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and many other media.
The Willow Gallery in Willow Street, Oswestry, acted as a host for several artists, and a hub for the initiative as it does through the year for the vibrant arts scene in and around the town. Many of the artists exhibiting on the Art Trail can be seen regularly at the Gallery.
These photographs give just a taste of the borderland artists and their work – it would be an understatement to say that in terms of range and quality, Oswestry and the surrounding area punches way above its weight.
