Derwen College Garden Centre and Gift Shop is urging green fingered customers to look ahead to a blooming beautiful spring.

Students and staff at the Garden Centre, in Gobowen, near Oswestry, will be creating a range of glorious mixed flower hanging baskets, guaranteed to brighten up homes and gardens in the coming months.

The Garden Centre team are taking orders from now, through until April. Prices for a complete basket start at £12.50 for a 10-inch plastic basket, up to £35 for a 16-inch wire and lined basket. Alternative options included a cone rope basket for £16 and raffia round bottom basket, starting at £22.

Derwen College is proud of its green credentials. The team are happy to offer a refill service for customers supplying their own used good quality baskets.

Baskets will feature mixed seasonal flowers, although special requests or themes may be accommodated.

For information and orders, please email Nursery and Production Manager Paul Moss on paul.moss@derwen.ac.uk, visit the Garden Centre or telephone on 01691 779231.

Derwen College Garden Centre and Gift Shop provides work experience opportunities for students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) from Shropshire, and across the UK. Students, aged 16 to 25, on the Horticulture or Retail & Enterprise pathways hone their skills and complete qualifications whilst on work placements. Students then progress to work placements in the community, and eventually into employment where appropriate.

As well as the Garden Centre and Gift Shop, Derwen College has a visitor ‘Marketplace’ which includes the Walled Garden Café, Vintage Advantage charity shop, a small training hotel and Orangery Restaurant – all of which are used for student training, and are open to the public. Visitors can also enjoy a walk with family or dogs around the College’s Woodland Walk.

A visit to Derwen supports the community, and young adults with SEND. The site is fully accessible, and is an enjoyable day out with free parking and a warm welcome.
