An Oswestry-based manufacturing company is marking its 21st year in business with the launch of a new advanced X-ray imaging inspection service aimed at supporting both its own production operations and businesses across the wider electronics industry.
IS Fusion Ltd has invested in a state-of-the-art Seamark PCB X5600 X-ray inspection system at its Oswestry factory, strengthening quality control procedures for the company’s intrinsically safe fuse products while opening the door to commercial imaging and inspection services for external customers.
The company, which has built a strong reputation for specialist fuse manufacturing, says the new technology represents a significant step forward in its long-term growth strategy.
Liz Hindmarch, Managing Director, at IS Fusion said the investment reflects the company’s continued commitment to innovation, precision engineering and customer confidence.
The newly installed Seamark PCB X5600 system uses high-resolution X-ray imaging technology to inspect electronic assemblies and components in minute detail, allowing engineers to identify hidden soldering faults, voids, cracks, bonding issues and manufacturing defects that cannot be detected through conventional visual inspection methods.
The system will play a central role in quality assurance for IS Fusion’s intrinsically safe fuse range, products widely used in hazardous and safety-critical environments where reliability and compliance are essential.
As well as supporting internal manufacturing standards, IS Fusion is now offering specialist X-ray imaging and inspection services to other manufacturers and electronics companies seeking independent analysis, fault investigation and production quality verification.
The advanced imaging system is capable of inspecting a wide variety of electronic and industrial components, including SMT assemblies, semiconductors, BGAs, LEDs, automotive electronics, battery technologies and photovoltaic components.
Features include automated void ratio calculations, infrared navigation and positioning, multiple operating modes and customised software algorithms capable of identifying issues such as broken wires, component offsets and dimensional inconsistencies.
The investment comes during a milestone year for the company as IS Fusion celebrates more than two decades of trading from its Shropshire base.
Over the past 21 years, the business has continued to evolve from a specialist fuse manufacturer into a broader provider of electronic manufacturing and technical support services, supplying customers across multiple industries in the UK and overseas.
