Three Oswestry businesses have joined forces to launch an upbeat podcast featuring all the town’s good news.

David Lee-Birch and Tracy Leonard, of Oswestry Life Magazine, podcast specialist Charlotte Foster and Ruth Martin of Martin & Jones Marketing decided that their home town needed a good-news series to celebrate all things Oswestry.

The new podcast, called Oswestry Life, is available on all streaming apps. It was launched today (Friday 28th March) and includes the first three episode all embracing the theme of spring.

David-Lee Birch said: “When we’re putting the magazine together, we’re always inundated with amazing stories from people in town and the surrounding areas. We get to hear them all, but there often isn’t space to include them.

“This is where the idea of the podcast came from – we want to share these uplifting and moving stories with everyone.”

He added that he hoped the partnership will help Oswestry Life reach even more people in the town and surrounding area. Over 7,000 copies of the monthly magazine are distributed across the area and it has a social media following of over 35,000.

Charlotte Foster, who will produce the podcast, said that podcasts were a great way of bringing local communities together.

“Gone are the days when you would bump into a neighbour at the corner shop and update each other on family happenings. Podcasts can help us to connect again,” she said.

“This is Oswestry’s own podcast, so we invite everyone in the town to get involved with our exciting new project, as we connect, inform, and inspire through the power of your good-news stories,” she said.

The debut series, on a spring theme, will include discussions on health and wellbeing, the awakening of nature, and the exciting new developments shaping the town. Plus, the podcast team took to the streets in February, capturing the views of local people on what puts a spring in their step.

Ruth Martin of Martin & Jones Marketing, a member of the podcast team, said the reaction from townspeople had been very positive.

“Despite a dreary February day, the enthusiasm we encountered was overwhelming. People were eager to share their experiences and what they love about Oswestry. It was truly inspiring.”

The first series is sponsored by Kim Cleminson-Jones at KC Accountancy Services. Kim said: “I immediately wanted to support this project. We need more positive stories, and I want to share my pride in Oswestry with everyone.”
