A well respected Oswestry man, Kev Williams has announced that after 26 years of being a Firefighter and Crew Manager at Oswestry Fire Station, he has decided to retire from the service.

Mr Williams said: “In my time I have worked with some fantastic people who are not just friends and colleagues but family to me”.

“I am proud to have served and helped protect our community for so long, having helped many people but also witnessed horrors that will never be forgotten”.

This has to be one of the hardest but most rewarding jobs around but without the support of my amazing wife and daughters it would not have happened.”.

Oswestry Town Clerk David Preston said: “Kev has done so much for the town in fundraising and safety education.  I wish him well in his retirement.  A huge loss to the Fire and Rescue Service”.
