Registration for this year’s Annual Oswestry Illuminated Tractor Run, organised in partnership with the Whittington & Oswestry Young Farmers Club and the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, will open on Sunday 26th October via the event’s Facebook page: @OswestryIlluminatedTractorRun.

Entries are limited to 100 tractors, and drivers are encouraged to register early to guarantee a place in the line-up.

Event spokesperson Mike Lade confirmed a small change to the start of this year’s route.

“We have made a minor change at the start of our route this year. Our revised route now means we will start by going through Oswestry first and then to Morda, then to West Felton, Ruyton XI Towns, Baschurch, Burlton, Cockshut, Ellesmere, Duddleston Heath, Ifton Heath, St Martins, Gobowen, Whittington, then Oswestry again to return to the Livestock Market soon after 8.30pm-ish.”

Plans are also underway to enhance the Junior Tractor Run, following the great success of last year’s introduction. The aim is to make the event even more fun for families. Thanks go to Wynnstay Stores in Oswestry for donating a fantastic prize for the best illuminated ride-on toy, to be judged once again by Father Christmas. More details will be announced as the Junior Tractor Run develops.

In 2024, the event raised a much-needed £20,000 for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, based in Shrewsbury, which supports cancer treatment for local patients. Organisers hope to match or exceed that amount this year, which would bring the total raised over the last two years to £32,000.

The 2025 run will take place on Saturday 13th December, starting at 5:00pm from Oswestry Livestock Market, Shrewsbury Road. Members of the public are invited to arrive from 3:00pm, when there will be free parking, an opportunity to view the illuminated tractors up close, and a chance to meet local farmers.

There will also be a BBQ, refreshments, and fun items for children including glow sticks and other light-up toys.
