Oswestry Legal Secretary steps up for charity with two major running challenges

A legal secretary is swapping her office shoes for running shoes to take on two running challenges in support of charities close to her heart.

Megan Currie, a dedicated secretary in the Family department at Oswestry law firm, GHP Legal, is currently in full training mode as she prepares for the high profile Run to Anfield on Saturday 2^nd August, when she will be raising funds for the LFC Foundation.

‘Run to Anfield’ takes place specifically in support of the LFC Foundation, the official charity of Liverpool Football Club. The charity provides life-changing opportunities for children and young people, focusing on education, employability, mental health and physical well-being. Last season alone, it supported over 127,000 young people and families across Merseyside and beyond, in its mission to tackle community social inequalities.

After recovering from Run to Anfield there will be no let-up in Megan’s training regime as she has also signed up for The Chester Zoo 10k run on 21^st September to raise funds for the conservation of Nubian Giraffes, a critically endangered subspecies of giraffe.

Megan, who says that six months ago she couldn’t imagine running for a bus let alone running 10k, has been steadily building up her mileage as part of her 10k training plan, starting with her first Park Run.

“Running has now become part of my weekly routine,” she says, “and knowing that I’m doing it to help others keeps me motivated. I am a long-time supporter of LFC and greatly admire the work done by the LFC Foundation. And I’ve always loved animals, so being able to help protect Nubian giraffes while challenging myself physically is incredibly rewarding”.
