Oswestry Photographic Society has won this year’s Nine Towns Photographic Competition, a friendly annual inter-club contest that brings together photography societies from across Shropshire and the surrounding region.
The competition features photographic clubs from Oswestry, Shrewsbury, Whitchurch, Newport, Stourport, Long Mynd, Kidderminster, Bridgnorth and Ludlow, each submitting a selection of images to be judged by an independent panel. The event celebrates creativity, technical skill, and the wide range of subjects captured by local photographers.
This year, Oswestry Photographic Society achieved the highest overall score, securing the top position in the competition and continuing the club’s strong tradition of photographic excellence.
Among the standout entries was a striking photograph of a red squirrel in a snowstorm, which received the highest individual score of 20 from the judges. Three additional images from the society each achieved impressive scores of 19, demonstrating the exceptional quality and diversity of work produced by the club’s members.
The high-scoring images illustrate the breadth of photography practiced by local enthusiasts, ranging from wildlife and nature photography to artistic and creative imagery.
Oswestry Photographic Society welcomes photographers of all abilities and meets regularly to share knowledge, hold competitions, and encourage members to develop their skills.
