Residents are invited to come together for Oswestry’s annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service.
The Parade will assemble on Bailey Head at 10.30am on Sunday 9 November. Porthywaen Silver Band will lead the procession to the Memorial Gates at Cae Glas Park where a Remembrance Service will be held. The service will be followed by the two-minute silence and reveille before wreaths are laid.
The Mayor of Oswestry will be joined by civic members, members of the armed forces, veterans and other service and civilian organisations. Residents are warmly invited along.
The Parade will then return to the Bailey Head prior to dismissal by the Parade Marshall.
A commemoration service will be held at St Oswald’s Church later that day at 4pm.
Another service will be held at the Memorial Gates on Armistice Day, Tuesday 11 November at 11am.
The Mayor of Oswestry Cllr Rosie Radford said: “Remembrance is a time for us to come together as a community to remember and honour all those who gave their lives to defend our freedoms. It is also a time for us to reflect on current conflicts and the effects on all those involved. Please join us.”
There will be temporary road closures in place on Church Street, Smithfield Street, The Cross, Bailey Street and Bailey Head for the Remembrance Day Parade and Service to take place safely on Sunday 9 November, from 10am to approximately 12pm.
There will also be temporary road closures in place on Church Street and Smithfield Street for the Armistice Day Service on Tuesday 11 November, from 10.30am to approximately 12.30pm.
