Good news for Oswestry residents — this year’s Illuminated Tractor Run will now pass through the town twice, giving more people the chance to enjoy the spectacular festive display.

The annual event, organised by the Whittington & Oswestry Young Farmers Club in partnership with the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, is held in memory of Will Roberts of Pennant Farm in Gobowen, who sadly passed away from a brain tumour on 12th December 2022.

Spokesman Mike Lade explained the new route change:

“The change of route is hoped to give more of the Oswestry residents and their little ones a greater opportunity to see the spectacle of the illuminated tractors and enjoy the sound of their air horns in the town. We will of course still be going through surrounding villages and towns on our revised route.”

The tractors will now pass through Oswestry on both their outward and return journeys. The revised route will include:
Morda, West Felton, Ruyton XI Towns, Baschurch, Burlton, Cockshut, Ellesmere, Duddleston Heath, Ifton Heath, St Martins, Gobowen, Whittington, and back through Oswestry to return to the Livestock Market around 8:30pm.

As in previous years, a Junior Tractor Run will be held within the Market area, making it a fun and festive evening for the whole family.

Last year’s event raised an impressive £20,000 for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, based in Shrewsbury, bringing the total raised over the past two years to £32,000. Organisers are hopeful they can match or exceed that figure again this year.

More event details will be shared soon, and the online entry form to register tractors will be available in November.
