A new art space in Oswestry continues to flourish as it launches its latest show – a tour in pictures of 100 chapels of the Lleyn Peninsula in North Wales.

The work of Oswestry creative, Neil Phillips, the 100 Chapels exhibition is currently running in Oswestry Town Market’s upstairs gallery until August 22.

Neil said: “The project is a glimpse in time of these magnificent chapels which are a distinctive part of the scenery when you visit the Lleyn. I took the photos in 2004 during a family holiday when a week of rainy mornings provided an opportunity to capture as many chapels as possible. My children were less than impressed at the time, but we did get to the beach by the afternoon when the weather brightened up.”

The market gallery, also known as Oriel Farchnad, is curated by local artist, Robert Lawton in coordination with market manager, David Clough. Over the last few months, several well-received exhibitions have showcased a wide range of art, with more scheduled for the rest of the year.

A musician, DJ and conceptual artist, Neil stages several annual ‘Music in the Park’ events as part of Oswestry Town Council’s summer programme.

In 2012, he undertook a year-long art installation, ‘366 T-Shirts’, co-created with Kate Clarke, in which he shared his view of the world via daily slogans on a T-shirt. His musical output includes concept albums, Appendectomy and Supermarket, and several song releases with electro-metal band Awesome Zombie Ants.
