A local woman has secured a place in the final six of the nationwide Walkers “Do Us A Flavour” competition after creating a unique new crisp concept inspired by a family favourite dish.

Becky Dibble, who works at Gillhams, entered the competition earlier this year after spotting it on TikTok and deciding to put her creativity to the test. Her idea formed part of a “Savvy Sides” range and featured the flavour “Grilled Cheese and Chilli Jam” inspired by halloumi.

After receiving thousands of entries from across the country, an expert judging panel — including celebrity chef and social media star Poppy O’Toole, also known as the “Potato Queen” — selected Becky’s flavour as one of the final six.

Speaking about the inspiration behind her creation, Becky said:

“I chose Grilled Cheese and Chilli Jam because it’s always been a family favourite and makes the perfect side dish. I wanted to create something that felt like an actual food experience — something modern, memorable and indulgent, but with a twist on traditional flavours.”

Becky was informed in March that she had successfully reached the final stage of the competition.

The six finalist flavours will now compete in a one-of-a-kind TikTok gameshow series, where leading creators will each represent a flavour through a series of challenges. The competition will determine which two flavours progress to the “supermarket showdown”, with the finalists set to be announced in three weeks’ time during the final episode of the series.

The winning two flavours will then be produced and stocked in supermarkets nationwide between August and November.

The overall winner — decided by the flavour that achieves the highest sales — could receive up to £500,000, while the runner-up is guaranteed a £10,000 prize.

Becky said she is excited to see how the public responds to her flavour and is proud to represent Oswestry on a national stage.
