Cancer Buddies heard from Jo Hazell-Watkins who Founded The Soma Space. Jo is a qualified trauma-informed strength coach and together with psychotherapist Kevin Braddock, offer 1-1, group exercise sessions and programmes combining strength training, Boxercise and Tai Chi to assist individuals build and maintain mind-and-body wellbeing. They are funded by The National Lottery.
Jo said. “It is well established today that physical activity supports mental health, yet exercise often neglects the psychic dimension of wellbeing. We believe that attaching movement and exercise to mental health work multiplies the benefits of both.
As scholars of leading thinkers in this field, we specialise in helping people overcome exercise anxiety to improve mental and physical health and we believe our approach is innovative, rewarding and transformative.”
