With the support of local Oswestry business, Woodheads Sales and Lettings, pupils at Woodside

Primary School will receive 2 months of Happiness Training this Autumn. The Training aims to

support and inspire families with practical advice and wellbeing strategies and Woodside will be

the second school in Oswestry this year to benefit from the training sessions, sponsored by

Woodheads.

To mark their 15 year anniversary, Woodhead Sales and Lettings have pledged to ‘give back’ to the

community for the support they have been shown since opening their doors in 2004.

Kate Howell, Owner of Woodheads, comments:

“I am excited and personally proud to be part of this programme and helping to facilitate it’s

delivery. Local people have supported my business for 15 years and without them we would not be

here, representing Oswestry Estate Agency, so this is my way of saying ‘thank you’ and giving back to

a community that we owe so much to. Our ethos is firmly centred around community and we have

always been key supporters of local organisations such as the rugby, football and cricket clubs. This

year is a special year for us and as part of our pledge to give back to the local community we are

supporting the delivery of Happiness Training Sessions. Nobody is immune to mental health issues

and with the pressures now facing our young people in todays society, it is so important that they

receive the support they need, from a young age, to help them to be resilient and equip them with

the tools they need to be happy and healthy – the most important things in life.”

Bellan House was the first school to work in Partnership with Woodheads to deliver the Happiness

Training Programme and the training sessions completed in June. Claire Belk, Head of Bellan House,

comments:

“The Happiness Club Training Programme, kindly sponsored by Woodheads, has given the children of

Bellan a range of strategies to support their mental wellbeing. In Bellan, we know that children learn

best when they are happy. Anxiety and stress are some of the most common barriers to learning and

finding strategies to break these down enables our children to learn most effectively.

Our children have thoroughly enjoyed The Happiness Club sessions, where Katie taught them simple

techniques they can use at any time to bring a sense of calm and raise a positive attitude.

Knowing how to create happiness is a gift they have been given by Katie and when hearing one child

say “I’ll remember you all my life”, I know it is a gift they will treasure forever”.

Woodside pupils will be the next to receive the sponsored wellbeing training in the Autumn Term.

Claire Bennett, Head of Woodside Primary School, comments:

“The happiness and wellbeing of our children is at the heart of everything we do at Woodside. When

children feel happy, healthy and safe they thrive. We are delighted that all Woodside children will

have the opportunity to participate in The Happiness Training Programme and are very grateful to

Kate at Woodheads for her generous support in funding this programme across our school. The

Happiness Coaching Programme will benefit over 600 children, giving them valuable skills and

strategies for their happiness and wellbeing”.
