Packwood Girls conquer Everest for Armed Forces Charity…
The idea began to formulate at the end of last summer term. The girl boarders at Packwood, who live in the girls boarding accommodation called Park House, decided that they would like to raise money for charity by taking part in a physical challenge.
When the girls returned from their summer holidays Mrs Mullock had set them the challenge of climbing the Park House staircase 3,871 times, adding up to the equivalent height of Mount Everest.
Following the school motto “try your best to be your best” , the girls never took a backward step and have been working together, encouraging, logging flights of stairs and simply being together. Girls ranging from year 4 up to year 8, full boarders and a rapidly growing number of occasional boarders have all been keen to don the jackets and back packs and hit the steps. Our boarding captains highlighted in it has brought the house together, more interactions between year groups, all working towards one common goal.
All in aid of our chosen charity the SSAFA, to help support the great work they do supporting military families.
