Twenty-one remarkable runners who took part in the 2024 TCS London Marathon in aid of The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital have been thanked for their efforts.
A special celebration event was held in the Headley Court Veterans’ Orthopaedic Centre at the Oswestry-based hospital to honour the fundraisers who took part in the race, which took place back in April.
The runners collectively raised a phenomenal £45,000 for the RJAH Charity.
Victoria Sugden, Charity Director, said: “We are immensely grateful to our team of runners who took part in the London Marathon to raise much needed funds for RJAH Charity.
“The London Marathon is the biggest fundraiser on the calendar and all runners play a huge part in enabling us to provide the best possible support to patients and staff at RJAH.
“The funds raised by the team will go into our wider charitable funds pot, which is used to fund projects across the hospital to support patient care and improve staff services.”
Each runner received a certificate of appreciation which was presented to them by Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital.
Stacey, who was part of Team RJAH for the 2023 London Marathon, said: “Having taken part in the marathon myself, I know what a huge personal achievement it is.
“My congratulations go to each and every one of them for their outstanding achievement.”
Harry Turner, Trust Chair, said: “A huge thank you must go to every single Team RJAH member – their dedication and commitment to running the marathon and raising funds for RJAH Charity has been overwhelming and we can’t thank them enough.
“On behalf of the Trust I want to say well done to all. The money raised will benefit our patients and staff and for that, we are grateful.”
The runners who took part in the marathon were; Rachel Overy, Lucy Kirby, Ellie Sykes, Matt Barber, Charlie Sinclair, Jonny Drury, Maria Ellis, Natalie New, Archie Wilkinson, Shaun Harrison, Josh Crane, Katherine Russell, Michael Thomas, Kieran Evans, Michaela Quinton, Jo Lewis, Emma Gittins, Sam Herbert, Liza Francis, Ben Maddox and Yanira Camino.
