A Shropshire-based charity that delivers lifesaving care has earned a prestigious accolade for its exceptional workplace culture. Midlands Air Ambulance Charity has been awarded the ‘Outstanding Workplace Award’ by management consultancy firm People Insight in recognition of its outstanding achievement in employee engagement, with an impressive 94 per cent score in its recent annual Staff Survey.
The award highlights organisations that foster exceptional workplace cultures and actively act on employee feedback to drive meaningful change. This achievement places the charity in the top quartile for employee engagement, reinforcing its commitment to creating supportive, empowering environments for its teams. The results reflect input from both clinical and non-clinical staff that work across its three airbases and nine shops, including its airbase and charity headquarters at Cosford and stores in the Darwin Shopping Centre in Shrewsbury and New Street, Wellington.
In Shropshire last year (1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024), the total number of missions the charity was deployed to increased by nine per cent on the previous year. Of those missions, 33 per cent were in Telford. The latest figures also show that in Shropshire, 35 per cent of all missions were related to cardiac arrests, followed by 21 per cent for road traffic collisions.
Hanna Sebright, chief executive officer at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “The Outstanding Workplace Award honours organisations that excel in engaging and motivating their teams, fostering environments where employees feel valued, supported, and deeply connected to the organisation’s mission.
“Our people are at the heart of everything we do. It is through their passion, professionalism, dedication and drive that we can deliver our lifesaving service, ensuring our advanced clinicians deliver outstanding clinical care to those most in need at the scene of an incident. Receiving this recognition is testament to the exceptional culture we’ve cultivated at Midlands Air Ambulance Charity for which we’re all exceptionally proud.”
