People are being urged to give their support to a unique Christmas collaboration project this year which will benefit not one, but 24 diverse Shropshire charities.

Advent for Others is an advent calendar with a difference and features information about 24 charities from across the county. The calendar showcases the work of organisations including The Lyneal Trust, The Movement Centre at Robert Jones Agnes Hunt, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, and Shropshire Wildlife Trust, among many others.

By purchasing a physical calendar, people can support not just one charity, but boost fundraising and awareness for all 24.

Lizzy Coleman, from Lingen Davies, was inspired to create Advent for Others after seeing an increase in the number of people wanting to support charities over the last few years.

“The idea for this advent calendar stems from people wanting to support multiple charities. Instead of donating to just one cause, by purchasing this calendar, people can support 24 different causes in the county, and the many hundreds and thousands of people that benefit from their work.

“The charities involved represent the wide diversity of causes that are supported in Shropshire – all of which benefit local people in and around our community. We hope that by working together we can raise the profile of the fabulous charitable work going on in the county,” she added.

The project has been sponsored by home fire safety experts Aico.

Advent for Others costs £24.95 and is now available to purchase online at and in the pop-up Christmas card shop in St Oswald’s Church.
