Oswestry Town Council has awarded grants to six inspiring community groups making a real difference across the town.

The funding celebrates the incredible work of local organisations supporting health, wellbeing, creativity and sustainability in our community.

This round of grants will support:

  • The Movement Centre – helping children with movement difficulties reach their potential through specialist physiotherapy. A £1000 grant will provide vital new therapy equipment.
  • NeuroFriends – creating a warm, welcoming space where neurodivergent adults can connect and belong. £1,000 will help towards room hire costs to sustain sessions.
  • Oswestry SEN Parents CIC – championing children with special educational needs and their families. £2,000 towards hall hire and snacks means sessions can be free or affordable for everyone.
  • OsNosh CIC – tackling food waste while nourishing our community through rescued surplus food and a ‘pay as you feel’ café. £1,500 will help towards funding its FairShare Community Food Membership, bringing regular supplies from supermarkets to those who need them.
  • Oswestry and Borders Repair Café – where skilled volunteers breathe new life into broken items, helping people and planet. £150 will cover increased rent costs.
  • Design and Shine – providing a creative, safe space for adults facing mental health challenges. £780 will support rent and art materials, keeping this vital hub thriving.

Kevin Gibson, founder of Design and Shine, said: “It’s fantastic news. I’m so delighted. Every penny will help the people we support to stay connected through creativity. Having somewhere to meet makes such a difference to them. Massive thanks to the council.”

The Mayor of Oswestry, Cllr Rosie Radford, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to support these wonderful groups who are doing such fantastic work in our community. All of these grants will make a difference to local people’s lives.”

Oswestry Town Council’s rolling grant programme remains open to not-for-profit community groups based in or serving Oswestry.
