A local business consultant and showman is returning to the stage, for his 60th birthday, to raise money for Derwen College Charity.
Mark Lord, who is a business consultant with Berrys at Shrewsbury, and a governor at Derwen College, in Gobowen, will be celebrating his special birthday by hosting ‘Six Perfect 10s’ – an evening of musical magic, with special guests, including Derwen College Performing Arts students.
Mark will be singing his favourite songs from the musicals on Friday, 24 June, at the Holroyd Theatre at Moreton Hall School, near Oswestry.
Mark has appeared in more than 40 productions over the past 30 years with many leading roles. He was creative director at Oswestry Musical Theatre Company for more than 10 years.
Tickets are £12 each and include a drink and canapes. The evening starts at 7.30pm. Guest performers included local talent Kate McDonald, Bekah Plaisted, Jonathan Roberts, Tom Evans and students from Derwen College.
“As a governor at Derwen College, I see first hand how Derwen Charity supports students in their learning, living and social experiences. With the big 6-0 around the corner, I wanted to celebrate by doing what I love most – singing – whilst also raising funds for a fantastic cause.
“It’s going to a wonderful evening celebrating with songs from the musicals, and I hope to raise some money to support students with special educational needs and disabilities to achieve their ambitions.”
Mark is also selling raffle tickets to support Derwen Charity. They are available from Derwen College retail outlets, main reception and from Mark Lord. Prizes include a £200 holiday voucher from Polka Dot Travel, £100 voucher for Sebastian’s Restaurant in Oswestry, a half day spa day for two at the Lion Quays Hotel and Spa, and many more great prizes all kindly donated by local businesses. Raffle tickets are £2 each and the raffle will be drawn during the concert.
