Songs from the Shows will raise the roof at Ellesmere College early next month. A traditional favourite with a new twist, the annual Midwinter Concert will this year focus on musicals with songs from across the ages.

The concert will be held in Big School, Ellesmere College at 7.30pm on Saturday, 2nd February, and features the choirs and soloists of Ellesmere College, and the Porthywaen Silver Band.

The audience will be entertained with songs from well-loved musicals including Oklahoma, Fiddler on the Roof and the Wizard of Oz, and from newer musicals such as Wicked, Avenue Q and Chess.

The event is being organised to raise funds for Age UK North Shropshire Supporters and S. Mary’s Church, Ellesmere.

Anne Wignall, President of Age UK Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, said: “We are really looking forward to an evening of toe-tapping music and there will be plenty of opportunity for members of the audience to join in with the community singing.”

Tickets cost £7.50 and include a glass of wine and juice. They can be purchased from Ismay’s Fashions, 16, High Street, Ellesmere; Ann Harris on 01691 622163; or from Blakemere Veterinary Centre on 01691 622201.
