The newly formed Oswestry Business Collective has made a successful start today (Monday 20 April), with 22 people representing 20 different local businesses attending its first meeting at the Sweeney Hotel.
The initiative, created to bring together independent businesses across Oswestry, aims to provide a supportive and collaborative network for sole traders, home-based businesses, entrepreneurs, shopkeepers and small business owners.
Organiser Mike Lade said he was delighted with the turnout and early engagement:
“It was fantastic to see such a strong mix of businesses in the room and a real appetite for collaboration. Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who have already completed application forms.”
Attendees were introduced to the vision behind the collective, which is designed to offer an affordable, inclusive alternative to traditional business groups, while complementing the work already being done by the Oswestry BID.
Those who took application forms away are encouraged to complete them and return a copy via email.
Next Meeting Announced
Due to the positive response, a follow-up meeting has already been scheduled:
- Date: Thursday 7th May
- Time: 6:30pm – 8:00pm (arrive from 6:00pm for early networking)
- Venue: The Sweeney Hotel, Morda, SY10 9EU
The evening session will largely repeat the introductory presentation, making it ideal for those who were unable to attend the first meeting. It also offers another opportunity for attendees to expand their network with a different group of local businesses.
Mike added:
“We’re hoping to welcome even more businesses to the next session, particularly those who couldn’t attend during the day. It will be a great chance to meet new people and continue building momentum.”
The Oswestry Business Collective is open to anyone running a business in any capacity, with a focus on connection, collaboration and growth within the local economy.
