The Hive is more than just an arts venue — located in the heart of Shrewsbury, it serves as a lifeline for young people seeking confidence, connection, and creativity. As a registered charity, The Hive is proud to launch The Hive100, a new initiative inviting local supporters to sustain the life-changing work that impacts young lives every day.
A Community-Driven Initiative
Marketing Manager Vicki Duckett-Snape explains how the idea emerged:
“During our Save The Hive campaign last summer, so many people asked how they could continue supporting us. We wanted to create a way for our community to support us that is simple, accessible, and affordable. The Hive100 is one way for people to stand with us not just in moments of urgency, but for the long term.”
CEO Katie Jennings highlights why ongoing support is vital:
“The heartfelt donations from our community last summer were a crucial lifeline, allowing us to keep our doors open and our team thriving. Regular support enables us to plan future projects with confidence, including our new Alternative Provision programme for Shropshire. This programme offers a safe and creative space for children and young people who struggle with traditional education or have complex needs, supporting them in a non-academic environment. Projects like this need a solid home in Shrewsbury for young people across Shropshire. Knowing that people want to walk alongside us and the young people we support is incredibly inspiring.”

- Empower young lives through creative wellbeing projects, such as Amplify, where local young people explore their musical potential with guidance from industry experts, building skills and confidence.
- Provide safe, inclusive spaces in our venue and community for young people to belong, grow, and thrive.
- Address rising mental health challenges, with anxiety affecting 45% of young people and 48% of students in England. New referrals for under-17s have more than doubled since before the pandemic. (Source)
