Festive collections to help children across North East Wales are being held by staff and students at Wrexham Glyndwr University in the run-up to Christmas.
The university will once again be teaming up with Flying Start Wrexham & Flintshire for a Take a Tag, Bring a Gift scheme in the run up to Christmas.
Staff, students and members of the public can all take part in the scheme at both the Plas Coch and Northop campuses of the University.
Doing so is simple: donors take a tag from the Christmas trees on campus to attach to a gift donation which is suitable for children from birth to four years old. If applicable, write on the label the age range and/or gender the gift is best suited to.
The gifts are then collected from under the trees before being distributed to Flying Start centres – and given to children who may not have otherwise received a gift at Christmas.
In 2018, more than 70 gifts were donated from across the university, with two Animal Science students also raising £120 throughout the year to help purchase presents as well.
The Take a Tag scheme will run in both Wrexham and Northop from December 2 until December 13.
Director of Operations, Lynda Powell said: “It’s wonderful to see staff, students and visitors across the university and its campuses not only doing their bit for seasonal cheer – but also for local good causes.
“Making sure the gifts under our trees will be going to those in need this Christmas is a wonderful way to help people across our region.”
