Mobility specialist business Ableworld took time out of a community event to present staff from Hope House children’s hospice with a specialist children’s wheelchair.

Shrewsbury and Oswestry Ableworld manager Pete Morgans donated the foldable wheelchair during a promotional event outside the Hope House charity shop, near Shrewsbury’s Percy Throwers Garden Centre. Pete and assistant manager Emma Thomas set up a test track by the Hope House charity shop for customers to have a go on some of their mobility vehicles. They also took the opportunity to gift Hope House with an unused ex-display model paediatric wheelchair.

Pete said: “We have shops in Shrewsbury and Oswestry, so are aware of the important services provided by Hope House children’s hospice. We wanted to donate this wheelchair to a local charity which makes a big difference to the lives of families in the area.”

Hope House Clinical Therapies Lead, Emma Wyatt, thanked the Ableworld team for their kind donation.

She said: “Thank you so much to Ableworld for donating a specialist children’s wheelchair which will enable our more independent children to have use of a wheelchair on our trips. Specialist equipment for children who visit us for respite stays can be expensive so, as a charity, we’re extremely grateful to Ableworld for thinking of us.”
