The winning entires of CPRE Shropshire’s photo competition will go on display at a special exhibition at Oswestry’s Willow Gallery, from Saturday 18th January.
Over 400 entries from the county’s amateur photographers were sent in to the charity’s “My Shropshire” landscape photo competition, which was run to mark CPRE Shropshire’s 70th birthday.
The judges had a difficult task picking the winners, but were unanimous over the winning entry, a dramatic image “Storm on the Shropshire Hills”, by photographer Richard Greswell.
Janet Lewis with her photo of “Offa’s Dyke on Llanfair Hill” and Olwyn Wall with “Misty Morning on the Severn” were both named joint runners up.
The Selby Martin Prize was awarded to Chris Lewis with his atmospheric image, “Trees in the Mist”.
The images of Shropshire through a lens will be on display at Oswestry’s Willow Gallery from Saturday 18th January until the end of February.
CPRE Shropshire’s Chair, Sarah Bury, said: “We were blown away by the impressive selection of images showcasing the beauty and diversity of the Shropshire countryside, the quality and range of work submitted was really high.
“We’re delighted that these beautiful images will now be showcased at the Willow Gallery. We hope local people will get a chance to visit and see these carefully crafted shots of Shropshire’s varied and stunning landscapes.”
A further 11 highly commended images were selected from photographers Ian Kidd, Alfie Blue, Tom Blockley, Andy Udall, Alastair Reid, Verity Gray, Alan Gwilt, Paul Cox, Graeme Morris, Philip Lea and Rob Hall, and these will also be on display.
Following it’s display at Willow Gallery, the exhibit will then move on to The Bear Steps gallery in Shrewsbury from 1 -14th March.
