A local charity is bringing its popular workshop for NHS hearing aid wearers to Gobowen this month.

‘Living Well with a Hearing Loss’ is being hosted by Community Resource at All Saints Church Hall, Chirk Road, from 9.30am to 1pm on Wednesday 22 June.

The free event provides information, advice and support to NHS hearing aid wearers and their loved ones and is particularly beneficial for those who need help adjusting to a hearing impairment.

Topics covered include how to make better use of hearing aids, where to get access to services and equipment and guidance on more effective communication skills.

Places are limited so booking is essential.

Lindsey Stirton, Development Officer for Community Resource, said: “Some people find wearing a hearing aid very frustrating, and it can take them some time to feel comfortable and confident.

“This programme is a chance to share experiences, challenges and successes with others in similar situations as well as gain valuable information about the services and support available locally.”

Community Resource provides Hearing Loss Support services for anyone who wears a hearing aid supplied by the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust Audiology departments.

These services are run by audiology-trained volunteers, many of whom have personal experience of hearing loss, and include local support hubs and home and residential care visits.

Lindsey added: “Our volunteers have first-hand experience and extensive knowledge on living with a hearing loss and have helped and supported many people with managing their hearing aids and accessing information.

“If you think this workshop would be useful to you or someone you know please get in touch.”
