An artistic young farmer has taken top prize in a partnership initiative with a local firm.
Tudor Griffiths Group launched a competition to encourage young farmers to draw or paint a typical scene from their working lives that would be recreated on their next new vehicle.
And the winning design came from Charlotte Price, of Ludlow Young Farmers Club, who visited the company’s concrete plant at Bridgnorth to see it unveiled.
TG Concrete General Manager Dave Morris said the project was the latest in a programme of initiatives to show the company’s commitment to the community in which it was based.
“We are one of the largest privately-owned ready mixed concrete suppliers in the region and we recognise our business brings with it a high level of responsibility to minimise the environmental impact of our operations.
“It’s not just about the energy and materials that we use, but also the direct impact that the processes we use have on the habitats and landscapes around us. We feel it’s very important that we show visible support for the agricultural sector in particular, and we’re delighted that so many young farmers took part in our competition.
“Charlotte’s design was a bright and cheerful interpretation of a typical rural scene, and it looks great on our latest truck – keep an eye out for it on the roads of Shropshire and beyond.”
As a result of her win, Charlotte received a Kindle and Amazon gift vouchers, and Tudor Griffiths Group made a £100 donation to Ludlow Young Farmers Club.
The rural scene competition follows another initiative when Tudor Griffiths Group previously unveiled a unique vehicle in a pledge of solidarity with the county’s dairy farmers. The concrete mixer truck was specially sign-written to resemble the markings on a Holstein Friesian cow.
“Our ‘moo mixer’ was a unique way to promote our thanks and support for the local dairy industry, and this time round we’re delighted to have found another creative way to raise awareness of the farming community and show them we appreciate everything they do,” said Dave.
