An Oswestry filmmaker is planning to create an Oswestry-based film festival and he is calling upon other local creatives and organisations to help him do it. He has already gained the support of an Oswestry production company, who have quickly come on board and sponsored the event with other local organisations already offering their support, too.
Jack Davies, 24, who attended nearby North Shropshire College before studying Film at University, has returned to his hometown with a renewed drive to see filmmaking celebrated locally; something he is incredibly passionate about seeing recognised with his Oswestry Short Film Festival.
“Oswestry and its surrounding areas are a growing hub of creatives and it’s important to help fuel that fire even further,” explains Jack. “To provide that platform, we are excited to announce that with the Oswestry Short Film Festival, in collaboration with multiple local businesses, we hope to bring you a chance to put your short films on the big screen.”
The first of those local businesses to come on board is Oswestry’s own production company, Rocking Horse Media, who Jack has been aware of ever since he went on work experience with them seven years ago! But, whilst Jack has come a long way since, the same could be said of Rocking Horse, who now have Henry House, an all-star cast TV pilot to their name, which is about to be pitched to broadcasters as a full series. As well as providing on-screen content, Rocking Horse will be hoping to tap into its wealth of industry contacts to bring some high profile guest speakers to the event, and they have also provided a free website for the festival.
We at Oswestry Life, as well as Oswestry Film Society and Oswestry Town Museum have already joined Rocking Horse Media in offering support.
