A local 11 year old boy, Toby Barkley, set himself a challenge last year to raise some monies to help the children that are supported by Hope House. He held a plant sale at his home and raised over £500. Not satisfied with having done something to help make a difference, Toby wanted to do even more. He decided to repeat this plant sale again this year and set himself a target of £550.
On Saturday 4 May, Toby held his sale. In addition to selling plants that he had grown himself, he also sold cakes, held a raffle and sold wooden coasters – again handmade by Toby. The sun was shining and lots of people turned up, some people simply stopped by to make a donation. By the end of the day Toby was shattered but couldn’t wait to count up the monies he had raised. Incredibly, the total came to £806.86!!
Toby visited Hope House to hand over the monies he had raised and also deliver some special handmade coasters that spelt out Hope House.
“We are so lucky to have very special supporters like Toby” said Lynsey Kilvert Fundraiser at Hope House “Toby is such a thoughtful boy and through his fundraising he is ensuring that seriously ill local children are getting the support they need, we cannot thank him enough”.
Toby would like to say a special thank you to everyone that helped with his Plant Sale and local businesses that made donations to his raffle. Toby sends a special thank you to North Shropshire Timber for donating the wood to enable him to make the coasters.
