Oswestry Town Council would like to thank everyone that took part in the Youth Market that was held on the Bailey Head on the 17th May.
The Youth Market formed part of the ‘Love Your Local Market’ fortnight, which takes place in over 25 countries to celebrate all that we love about markets and encourage new traders.
The Youth Market was a great way for young people to gain some retailing experience and learn customer service skills.
Oswestry Town Mayor, Councillor Rose, visited the market along with NABMA (National Association British Markets Authority) Chief Executive, David Preston to offer some words of encouragement to pupils from North Shropshire College and Oswestry School, who took part.
The stalls offered a wide range of products including Balkan food, cakes, local honey, lavender bags, homemade soaps, hair products, unique comics by J Webber and bric-a-brac.
Cllr Olly Rose added, “It was great to see young people learning new skills, having fun and raising money for local charities – maybe we have some future market traders in the making”.
The next special event will be the ‘Grow Your Own’ gardening market on Friday 26th May, alongside the monthly Artisan Market. There will be free advice on seed sowing, growing vegetables, making compost, planting hanging baskets, flower arranging, plants for sale and free seed planting for the children.”
