WIN tickets for the Shrewsbury Steam Rally 2026

August Bank Holiday on Sun 30th – Mon 31st August 2026

For 65 years, the County of Salop Steam Engine Society has been at the forefront of commemorating engineering excellence and demonstrating the farming methods of yesteryear.

The 2026 Rally is a family-friendly, two-day event set in the beautiful surroundings of Onslow Park, Shrewsbury. Taking place over the August Bank Holiday on Sunday 30th August and Monday 31st August 2026, the Shrewsbury Steam Rally is known as “Shropshire’s Largest Steam & Vintage Vehicle Rally” and is widely regarded as one of the best in the UK.

Organisers describe it as Shrewsbury’s ultimate family event, where visitors can step back in time and experience the vintage thrills and traditions of years gone by.

The event features more than 1,200 attractions, including working steam engines and beautifully preserved classic vehicles. Each day, the hugely popular “Grand Parade of Steam” showcases a majestic cavalcade of Showman’s engines, traction engines, Sentinel wagons and steam rollers. Set to nostalgic music and poetry, the parade is a memorable highlight of the event, ending with a spectacular chorus of steam whistles.

There is also a packed Arena Programme on both days, featuring historic commercial vehicles, buses, fire engines, vintage cycles, working horses, vintage tractors, pre- and post-war cars, classic motorcycles and more, with the Main Arena at the heart of the action.

Visitors can also enjoy:

  • The Olde Time Fair
  • Miniature steam engines
  • A popular Craft Marquee
  • Six acres of trade stands

The Golden Age of Victorian Farming takes pride of place on the Working Field, where traditional demonstrations include teams of magnificent shire horses, harvesting with reaper binders and chaff cutting with a threshing box. More than 240 pre- and post-1940 tractors will also be on display across the showground.

Visitors can truly step back in time, explore original farming skills and experience pure nostalgia at its best.
