A stage school near Oswestry continues to provide exciting opportunities for its young performers, despite the lockdown restrictions.

The Face2Face performance academy which is based at The Holroyd Community Theatre, Weston Rhyn, continues to keep its curtains open with a series of online masterclasses from stars of the West End.

The second session will be delivered by Kane Oliver Parry, star of Matilda the Musical.

Ahead of his online class, he said: “I’ve taught at Face2Face before, back when it was first set up. The students impressed me, they were so enthusiastic and eager to learn.

“I am looking forward to returning, albeit via video link. My session will be a little different this time, with a real focus on developing character. I hope to teach the student skills that they can use independently.”

Kane has also starred in: Wicked, We Will Rock You, Oklahoma to name but a few.

As well as these masterclasses, the performing arts students have been developing their skills with online video lessons and tutorials from their regular coaches.

Face2Face manager and head coach, Michael Jenkins said:

“I am so pleased that Kane is going to be delivering an online session for us. He is a superb performer and excellent role-model for our students.

“Ahead of the session, students have been given material to learn which Kane will watch and coach within the class.”

The Academy’s parents are full of praise, taking the time to email in. Parent Victoria Sugden said:

“My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed the Face2Face lockdown sessions that have been run online. They make such a welcome change from schoolwork and to see her face light up when she sees her teachers and friends on Zoom has been really lovely.

“The sessions are fun, really interactive and upbeat – an absolute highlight of the week!  I am so grateful to the face2face team for producing these well-thought-out activities, every credit to them for making the best of a difficult situation.”
