On Saturday 20th April, With Love From… is hosting one of its regular shared wardrobe pop-up shop events upstairs at Oswestry Memorial Hall.

At these unique ‘shopping events’, visitors are able to donate party clothing, footwear and accessories, collect points, browse the shared wardrobe of 500+ items and speak to the ‘re-imagine’ team about repairs, alterations and customisations to clothing.

Throughout the day, alongside the pop-up shop on Saturday 20th April, With Love From… is also hosting a series of sewing workshops…

  • 10:30am – 11:30am – Repair workshop: Beginners sewing workshop – threading a needle, basic hand sewing skills and reattaching buttons, followed by a guided DIY repair session (bring an item from home or work on clothing in the shared wardrobe to learn some basic clothing repair skills).
  • 12:30pm – 1:30pm – Alterations workshop: Beginner/intermediate sewing workshop basic hand sewing skills (backstitch, herringbone stitch, ladder stitch etc), followed by a guided DIY alterations session (bring an item from home or work on clothing in the shared wardrobe to learn some basic clothing repair skills).
  • 3:00pm – 4:00pm – Customisation workshop: A “reimagine” demonstration and idea sharing session with a sewing and clothing customisation expert, followed by the chance to begin one of your own wardrobe customisation projects.

Each workshop is just £5 to attend, and will have experts on hand to help, all the equipment you may need and free teas and coffees available.

The project, which is on a mission to reduce the environmental and ethical impact of fashion through the promotion of better choices, has also been working with schools and colleges to bring this message to students who are soon to be attending prom.

With Love From… is challenging local students to get together with friends and become sustainable stylists, designers and models to find or make a prom outfit from sustainable sources (vintage, second-hand, borrowed, recycled, repurposed or the With Love From… shared wardrobe).

The outfits entered will then feature in a catwalk at the project’s Prom Reimagined event on Wednesday 24th April, 7pm–9pm which aims to showcase ideas and outfits to make local proms more planet friendly.

The sewing skills workshops, pop-up wardrobe event and Prom Reimagined event have all been organised as part of Fashion Revolution Week from April 15 to 24.

Lizzie Dibble, founder at With Love From… said; “Over the past year this project has grown into something so much more than the shared wardrobe. Our mission to reduce the environmental and ethical impact of fashion through the promotion of better choices is already having an impact on shopping behaviours.

“We’re helping people to keep their wardrobe items in circulation and preventing hundreds of garments from reaching landfill. By slowing down fashion; sharing, re-wearing, repairing and caring for our clothing we are not only reducing waste and protecting the earth’s resources, but we are also encouraging fashion brands to slow down, be more considerate, pay better, make better and be better.”
