The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital have teamed up with a local sportswear business – in a bid to celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS.

Fanny Annie’s Fancy Pants have created a special range of hero running leggings – with 10% of profits made being donated to the Oswestry-based hospital’s charity.

Marion Pavitt, owner of Fanny Annie’s and run leader who took the first cohort of RJAH staff through the Couch to 5k programme, took inspiration for the work of the NHS throughout the covid-19 pandemic

She said: “As well as taking inspiration from the dedication of NHS staff through covid-19, I also felt inspired by the group of RJAH staff I took through the Couch to 5k programme last year.

“It would be fantastic to see people wearing the hero leggings at parkrun for the NHS on Saturday 8 July.”

The NHS turns 75 on 5 July 2023 – one of the ways people can celebrate is by taking part in a special parkrun for the NHS on Saturday 8 July.

RJAH will be taking over Henley Wood parkrun in Oswestry, with charities such as the RJAH Charity, League of Friends and Orthopaedic Institute supporting the event, and staff members, their friends and families running, jogging, walking, volunteering or even cheering on others.

Marion added: “I decided to set-up Fanny Annie when I realised there were limited running leggings on the market that are designed to fit well around a woman’s shape and contours, while being functional and having a funky design.

“The designs are developed and run-tested in Shropshire, and they are either produced in Shropshire or Wales, by a team of highly skilled and experienced craftspeople.

“My goal is for women to look and feel fabulous, comfortable and supported whether they are embarking on the Couch to 5k programme or taking on a marathon.”

The RJAH Charity supports Couch to 5k at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital – with two cohorts of staff completing the running programme, and a third planned for later in the year.

Victoria Sugden, Charity Director, said: “Supporting staff wellbeing is a key priority for the RJAH Charity and we have been delighted to fund the Couch to 5k programme on behalf of the Trust.

“Thank you to Marion and Fanny Annie’s Fancy Pants for creating the special range of leggings and donating to the RJAH Charity.”
