Santa is getting ready to greet all the boys and girls at the start and finish of the Illuminated Tractor Run at the Livestock Market, Shrewsbury Road in Oswestry from 4.00 till 5.00pm on Saturday 9th December. So why not come along and get your photo taken with Santa and our great local farmer Dave Roberts and Choc’s tractor?

Organiser, Mike Lade said:  The run is being organised with the Whittington and Oswestry Young Farmers Club in memory of Will Roberts of Pennant Farm in Gobowen. Will, the much-loved son of Dave and Sue Roberts, was affectionately known by all as “Choc” because of his love of chocolate. Sadly, “Choc” died from a brain tumour on 12th December last year so this will be a fitting event to remember “Choc”.  The money raised by the Young Farmers will go to the Lingen Davies cancer charity based in Mytton Oak Road in Shrewsbury.

“People will be able to walk around the tractors and talk to our local farmers before and after the end of the run at the market. Also available will be hot drinks to purchase and provided by the Young Farmers and a BBQ will be providing hot food provided by the Lingen Davies Charity. There will be marshals and bucket collectors at the Market and in the villages and towns to raise much need money for the local cancer charity, Lingen Davies so please have cash available on the evening so you can support the run.

“We will be starting from the Oswestry Livestock Market on the Shrewsbury Road in Oswestry as the light starts to fade at 5.00pm the illuminated tractors will leave to go through West Felton, Ruyton XI Towns, Baschurch, Burlton, Cockshut, Ellesmere, Duddleston Heath, Ifton Heath, St Martins, Gobowen, Whittington, Oswestry, Morda to return to the Livestock Market soon after 7.00pm we calculate.

“We will have a tracker on the lead tractor and will publish the link to it on our Facebook page below for people to click on so (subject to a mobile signal) folk will be able to see where we are in real time so they don’t have to wait around for too long in the cold.”

Mike added, “If you wish, you can donate via card through our Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/will-jackson-1.

“We have a Facebook page @oswestryilluminatedtractorrun where you can find the link to the map of our exact route and our calculated arrival times through the villages.”
