The annual Oswestry In Bloom competition is back and will again be judged by the ever popular Margaret Thrower, daughter of television’s garden specialist Percy Thrower.
The judging will be on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th July 2022 and the committee invite every green fingered local to enter. It is free to enter but why not be recognised for your hard work ?
The competitions categories are as follows:
Section A | Best Commercial Premises (Town Centre) |
Section B | Best Commercial Premises (Industrial Estate) |
Section C | Best Dressed Window (Town Centre) in the theme of Wildlife |
Section D | Best Kept School |
Section E | Best Community Project / Premises |
Section F | Best Residential Front Garden – Bedded Out (mostly annuals) |
Section G | Best Residential Front Garden – All Year Colour (mostly perennial) |
Section H | Best Residential Front Garden – Evergreen (mostly shrubs) |
Section I | Best Residential Rear Garden |
Section J | Best Residential Patio Garden |
Section K | Best Residential Small Front Garden |
Section L | Best Residential Balcony |
Section M | Best Pub / Hotel |
Section N | Best Wildlife Garden |
This year the committee have introduced a new category for Best Wildlife Garden and we have also gone with the Wildlife theme for the Town Centre Best Dressed Window. The closing date for entries is Friday 24th June 2022.
We are also extremely keen to encourage greater participation by local schools and this year, due to the judging’s dates we can offer alternative dates if the 28th and 29th are not suitable – although this will be judged by the Committee and not Margaret Thrower.
In addition, the town of Oswestry will be judged by the Heart of England in Bloom judges on Wednesday 20th July 2022 from 9.30 – 12.30. Oswestry is aiming for our 17th consecutive Gold award this year and we would greatly appreciate your help and support. Such an award would be a tremendous achievement for Oswestry, give the town significant national publicity and hopefully attract more visitors and shoppers to boost our local economy.
