Local tourism group, Oswestry Borderland Tourism, held an event for Oswestry Tourism Ambassadors at Whittington Castle.
Oswestry Town Mayor, Olly Rose was presented with her award for becoming one of the latest Gold Oswestry Tourism Ambassadors. She then presented three more gold awards to members of staff and volunteers from Oswestry Tourist Information Centre bringing the total of gold ambassadors to 45.
As the scheme enters its third year, there are over 60 people signed up to become Ambassadors. Karen Pringle, senior tourism officer at Oswestry Tourist Information Centre said that she was delighted that her staff and volunteers at the Tourist Information Centre are all Oswestry Tourism Ambassadors.
She went on to say that the latest module about Oswestry’s myths and legends was a fun way to share more about the area with visitors and locals and to call in to meet the latest members of staff at the TIC to find out more.
Oswestry Tourist Information Centre is at Castle View next to the library and is open market days, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
The Oswestry Tourism Ambassador scheme is a free online course for anyone who wants to get to know more about Oswestry and the Borderlands, the history and heritage and places to visit. Anyone can become an Oswestry Tourism Ambassador by signing up at:
