A quiz night with a difference will be taking place in Oswestry this weekend and it’s all in aid of a TV Pilot which is being filmed at a nearby specialist college. The event will even have a special round read out by a national treasure and TV legend who is set to star in the show.

Peter Purves, most famous for his time on Doctor Who and Blue Peter, will be reading out a special, “Here’s One I Made Earlier” round as part of the event which is being put on to raise vital funds for the production of Henry House, a comedy drama TV Pilot set in a local care home that is being filmed at Derwen College.

The night is being held at The Griffin Inn, Oswestry on Albion Hill, who are even offering their own prizes to the deserving quiz winners. But the Griffin is actually a place close to the Crufts legend’s heart as he can often be found dining there after a long day’s filming, “I am a huge fan of the Griffin’s menu, let me tell you. The winning team is in for a treat,” exclaims Peter.

Filming for the completely self-funded Henry House was actually nearly completed earlier this year until Peter had an untimely fall just three weeks before filming was set to wrap and, as a result, the entire production needed to be not only re-shot but re-financed, from scratch. Ever since Rocking Horse Media, the production company producing the Pilot, have been working hard to raise the vital funds needed to help save the show, which is also enabling young people with special educational needs and disabilities [SEND] to gain unique work experience on a professional TV set alongside famous faces like Peter.

The Henry House Quiz Night at the Griffin Inn this Sunday night from 7:30pm is £3 a head and every penny raised will go toward helping to save Henry House, a production that promises regular work for independent Oswestry businesses offering accommodation, catering and more once filming restarts and the show’s famous faces come to the area.
