Rob Mays from Oswestry who owns Evolution Arbtech, has just finished a 3-year Degree in Science in Arboriculture and Urban Tree Management.  Taking on any degree is tough, but it is a feat to complete whilst running a business by day and studying by night.

Back in May 2017, Rob suffered a worksite accident that saw him taken to hospital in the back of an ambulance after a large section of a tree crushed him to the floor. He suffered  five fractures to a number of vertebrae.  Not to be deterred, while he was recovering from his injuries and now that the future of working on the tools was now hanging in the balance, he decided to take an academic qualification in the more technical side of tree care.

However, after not having completed any academic work since around 1998, the thought of this was very daunting. Thankfully all the staff at Myerscough College were amazingly supportive and along with a strong passion for trees and a keen eagerness to learn more Rob began his studies.

Rob is now fully recovered and back on the tools as normal.  But sadly after all that hard work, like many disappointed graduates due to the Covid pandemic his July graduation ceremony has been postponed, with no date set as yet to proudly wear his cap and gown. However, there will at least still be a double celebration, where Rob will receive the final grade confirmation on the 29th June, and Evolution Arbtech will be celebrating its 4thBirthday on the 1st July.

Well done Rob!
