Borderland’s Community Team started litter-picking on Wilfred Owen Green back in June and following a very positive response, they decided to ‘adopt’ an area of east Oswestry to regularly clean up.

The group approached Oswestry Town Council and Shropshire Council and they were both very supportive and have kindly donated all the equipment needed to do the job safely and effectively.

The area chosen in east Oswestry is bounded by Middleton Road, Unicorn Road, Windsor Road, Harlech Road, Cabin Lane and Aston Way. These sessions should have a positive effect on the local community and confirm Rotary’s commitment to ‘make a difference’.

A spokesman said, “Rather than just moan about the litter issue, we’ve decided to do something about it on a regular basis and we’d particularly like to thank the local council as their support and supply of equipment has made this enterprise possible. We’re always looking for more volunteers so if you see us out and about, come and have a chat, get involved”.
