Another recent beneficiary of Oswestry Cambrian Rotary’s Santa Sleigh runs last Christmas is The Derwen College.

Derwen College, near Oswestry, is a specialist college for young adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).  They provide inspirational learning, development and care to enable the achievement of aspirations which transform lives. Derwen College offers residential and day placements to students with learning difficulties and disabilities, aged 16-25.

With three satellite sites in Shropshire and the main campus in Gobowen, near Oswestry, students have many opportunities to experience real work settings.  Other satellite sites are based at Ludlow, Telford and Walford.

Pictured is Sharon Jones from The Derwen together with Aaron Randhawe a student council member receiving a donation of £250 from Rotary Club members Cath Baldry, Stephen Walker and Michael Beynon.

Whilst Oswestry Cambrian Rotary does, along with many other Rotary Clubs, support good causes further afield such as those relating to the current Ukraine crisis, the main beneficiaries of its fund raising activities are local worthy causes.

The Oswestry Cambrian Rotary is ready to welcome individuals and couples of 18+ from the local community who want to be “people of action”.  We meet face-to-face at The Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry on Thursday evenings at 7.30pm and meet in the bar. Alternatively, people can join the meeting from wherever they are via our Zoom account connection.

For more information on what their new style of Rotary has to offer contact Mike Lade on 01691 570917, info@oswestrycambrianrc.co.uk or see www.oswestrycambrianrc.co.uk. Also you can find us on Face Book @oswestrycambrianrc.
