Oswestry knitting group, The Crafty Knitters recently presented a selection of handmade ‘twiddle muffs’ to the New Fairholme at the Senior Citizens Hall. The cosy gifts are for the dementia patients at the town’s care home.

Twiddle muffs are a double-thick knitted muff with items attached so that a patient with dementia can twiddle in their hands. They are effective in minimising agitation in people with Alzheimer’s and dementia and can even reduce the need for medication.

The next meeting of The Crafty Knitters will be on 8 October 1.30pm until 3pm at the Senior Citizens Hall on Lorne Street.
