A Team Leader in the Estates Department at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital has nailed down a win in the monthly staff awards – known as the RJAH Stars Awards.
Matty Mackenzie, who works in the Building Team at the Oswestry-based hospital, won the award after being described as a ‘true RJAH Star’ for his hard work and dedication.
He was nominated by Jenny Evans, Communications Apprentice at Shropshire’s specialist orthopaedic hospital, who spent a day shadowing Matty in his role as part of a wider communications piece shared amongst staff.
Jenny said: “I had the opportunity to shadow Matty and the team and was impressed by his dedication to his role and the Trust.
“The small team are exceptionally busy and work hard to maintain the facilities at the hospital to a high standard for patients, staff, and visitors.
“I got to see just how hard the team work to coordinate service tasks requested by staff alongside planned buildings work, whist also attending emergency bleep calls. All of which is done with a smile on his face – a true RJAH Star!”
The RJAH Star Award is presented to staff across the hospital after being nominated by their colleagues for going above and beyond.
Matty said: “It was a surprise to receive the reward, I really appreciate the nomination and it’s great that the team’s hard work is paying off.
“Managing the needs of the site is a big team effort and I am fortunate to have such a hard-working team.”
He was presented with his award, consisting of a keepsake certificate, box of chocolates donated by the League of Friends, and a voucher by Stacey Keegan, Chief Executive.
Stacey said: “We are very lucky to have Matty. He is an absolute asset – his knowledge and skills used to support the operations and development of the hospital site are invaluable.
“I am delighted to present him with his award, and it’s very much deserved for all his hard work.”
