The owners of a local business are celebrating after receiving the internationally-renowned ‘Great Taste award’.

Julie Dean, with husband David, run The Ellesmere Honey Company and last week received the news that they had been given a star for Pure Local Wildflower Honey in the Great Taste Awards, run by the Guild of Fine Food.

Mrs Dean said: “We are very proud to receive such a highly respected accolade from the Guild of Fine Food.  We knew our honey was special as our customers repeatedly told us how delicious it is.

We have a passion for bees, and the countryside and strive to operate as eco friendly as possible, aiming for a carbon neutral footprint.

We use zero plastic packaging which is all fully recyclable, along with renewable energy technologies that generate and offset any carbon used to produce our delicious honey.

We choose our apiaries specifically for for the richness of the flora and fauna which our bees love; in turn they give us delicious toasting honey that’s worthy of winning a prestigious Great Taste Award.

Fortnum and Mason in London have a whole section dedicated to products that are Great Taste award winners, that’s how much it means.”
