Oswestry Cambrian Rotary have started sending cheques to local clubs and organisation’s in the town from their 2020 Santa Sleigh collections at supermarkets and around the streets of Oswestry, Morda, St Martins, Gobowen and West Felton.

The final collection figure for 2020 was a magnificent £4,600. Because the club is a registered Charity, that figure will be enhanced by Gift Aid. Of course, the street collection is far less than the 2019 figure with the pandemic but much more than expected in these very difficult times for everyone but is due to the great generosity of our residents.

Club President Robin Brown is sending out cheques to U&I, the towns own mental health charity, Hope House Respite Care, Whittington Castle, West Mercia Search and Rescue who are out as volunteers in all weathers and times of day to find missing people and assist in floods etc, OsNosh to help continue feeding people that have been struggling in these hard times and to Lingen Davis cancer care fund.

President Robin Brown said, “We were so impressed with the generosity or residents through December and that has made it possible for us to support our local organisations. This financial support is more important than ever to the smaller groups at this time”.

The Oswestry Cambrian club is ready to welcome men, women or couples of 18+ from the local community who want to be “people of action”.  We would normally meet at The Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry on Thursday evenings at 7.45pm but Covid regulations prevents this at the moment.
