The first Berriew Show was a humble affair in 1948 and set in the grounds of the Comrades’ Hall. This year current President Mrs Gill Owen and the Committee will proudly host the 74th Show on 26th August 2023, believing it to be the biggest and best ever staged in Berriew. “Last year saw a record attendance,” said Gill, “and we look forward once again to welcoming thousands of visitors to enjoy a full day at the Show.”
Chairman Wayne Jones said “Our Show is one of the foremost in Montgomeryshire. We try to provide something for everyone so that all our visitors, sponsors, stallholders and exhibitors go home with a smile on their faces.”
The field will be full of exciting things to do from a packed programme in the main arena, to live music, a large horse and dog show, a big display of rare breeds, vintage vehicles and 90 trade stands covering everything from agricultural machinery, trucks, seeds, fencing and sheep dipping to clothing, furnishing, electric cycles, plants and pottery.
There will also be 60 craft stalls, including everything from cheese, salami, gin, honey and heritage food to ceramics, homeware, art, stationery and gifts all showcasing the amazing skill, dedication and diversity from the many local crafters in our area.
“We have made some big changes for 2023” said Committee member Phil Bettley. We have an improved parking and entry system, better green waste facilities, a new pavilion and a much expanded food and drink court. None of this would be possible without the generosity of our sponsors, and the tremendous support of the thousands of visitors who flocked to the show last year.”
