Despite the wettest of winters, Wynnstay Bowling Club is delighted to throw open a ‘welcome to bowlers and learners’ to Oswestry’s prestigious bowling green, now in supreme condition.
It’s handily based – right in the heart of Oswestry – at the rear of the Wynnstay Hotel, which last year underwent a million pound upgrade to offer magnificent facilities.
The new owners have put their weight behind the 200 year-old facility, pictured, with its own clubhouse just out of shot on the left, making the walled green one of the oldest greens in the country!
The club opens for the new season this year at 2pm on Monday March 25, through to October, and its committee promises to welcome prospective new members.
Club President Annette Jones calls ‘green bowling’ a blend of gentle exercise and fun – and will not only personally welcome new members on the opening day, but any Monday or Thursday when the club meets at 2pm, for its 27-week season – and the good news is membership is only £30 for the season, representing just marginally over one pound a week!
