Oteley Estate, a farm which overlooks Ellesmere’s Mere, has another open garden and market day on Saturday, October 8th.

The market is free to attend and for a small fee, visitors can also explore the 10-acre secret gardens that surround the mere. The private gardens include a woodland, boathouse, walled garden, tower, and a Swiss cottage.

New for this event, Oteley will have two free talks taking place. The first from the family team at Oteley, to learn more about the past, present and future of the Estate in Ellesmere as well as their food production. Allison’s Bee Class will be the second guest speaker delving into the world of bees and how important they are to the environment.

Clare Mainwaring from the family team said, “Our free markets are perfect for stocking up on locally made food and gifts from lots of brilliant, independent businesses as well as exploring our Autumnal gardens.”

“Our two free talks are a new addition to our open garden and local market events, and we’re excited to be able to let our visitors know more about Oteley Estate, which for some people, is right on their doorstep!”

The market and open garden day is open from 10am until 5pm, with last entry at 3pm. There is free parking available, and dogs are welcome on leads.

Entry to explore the private gardens is £6 for over 16s and children go free.

Every Thursday, Oteley hosts a pop-up shop and café, selling homegrown meat and fresh produce, and coffee from Iron & Fire.

Following the success from 2022, Oteley Estate’s Christmas Market will be back in December, with a date to be confirmed. Visitors will be able to enjoy a hot chocolate and mulled wine, whilst purchasing handmade gifts and local food from independent businesses.
